My name is Stefan Smith and I am the founder / head coach of Formula Run.
I have been a runner for most of my life and have had unique experiences which have given me a well rounded understanding of the way running can fit into a lifestyle. From a young age through to my mid 20's I was a competitive distance runner in New Zealand. I placed 6th in an 800m national final in 1:53.3 and 3rd in a half marathon national championships in 1:10.00.
I had a 4 year break from the sport after burning myself out and instead did other sport including gym work for fun. In that time I also started a family. Over time I gained 25kg and became very unfit. After finding myself short of breath walking up stairs, I knew I needed to do something about it. For the first time, I was running for a purpose other than trying to be the best in the country, I was running with a focus on improving my health and wellbeing.
I have now been back running a for a few years and have started Formula Run to help others realise the beauty of running. Whether it be for fun or more serious competition, I want to provide guidance for athletes to avoid making mistakes I have in the past. I am very passionate about running and you will get a lot of energy back from me to keep you motivated on your running journey. I hope to create an enthusiastic and educating running platform with video content and blogs to keep you engaged and motivated in addition to the training schedules.
Not only is running a great way to lose weight, keep healthy and boost confidence levels it is also an affordable sport everyone can do. People can spend upwards of hundreds of dollars a week using a personal trainer or going to the gym. At Formula Run you will receive affordable programmes on a weekly basis, with daily training scheduled especially for you to keep you working towards your goals.
